Tuesday the 18th. November.
4:40 pm
Burgers!!!! Bubba was sleeping on the couch. He can definitely hear, because I accidentally let the screen door slam, and it woke him, and he jumped up. Buddy was all over me as soon as I came in, his nose trying to suck the burger in right out of my hand. I waved it in front of Bubba’s face, and that got him up and off the couch.
No invitation needed – both guys jumped on dinner as soon as it hit the floor. Bubba tried to Alpha-Stance on Buddy. No matter which bowl Buddy takes, Bubba wants it. He just stands next to it, and Buddy moves away. But not tonight. There was burger in the bowl, and Buddy just ignored Bubba, who took the hint and went over to the other bowl to feast

We seem to have a regular schedule now for walks, but we need an earlier walk so we can get in 3 (or 4). We’re only walking twice a day, and that’s not enough exercise for the guys.

Today, we went towards town, and went down Green Lantern. We got all the way to the view platform. Buddy went out onto the platform, but Bubba stopped on the sidewalk. He was terrified, and acted like he did at the harbor last week. He hunkered down, tail tucked, and he was shaking violently. It was awful seeing him scared like that. We turned around and headed home. I picked him up and carried him for a bit. He was still shaking. I put him down once he calmed.
The walk was on the tracker. We walked 1.41 miles, and it took us 53 minutes.
9:30 am
I think I was close to ending up on PETA’s most-wanted list.
The guys were up until after midnight last night, because I wouldn’t leave. When I finally left, they were both unconscious. I had one guy talking in his sleep, and the other one snoring. So I let them sleep in a bit. But both were up when I arrived, and we went right out for a walk.
Buddy was being difficult most of the walk. Bubba just cruised along, enjoying everything there was to sniff and explore. We walked the full length of the park. On the way back, difficult almost became dangerous. We were crossing the entrance to the park. We waited a long while for a stream of cars entering the park to finally subside. By the time it did, Bubba had taken interest in smelling something so we had to wait. When he was done it was time to scamper across. Another column of cars was just coming around the curve at the end of the road. And then Buddy decided to stop and refuse to move, right in the middle of the driveway. I tried to get him to continue across, but he wouldn’t budge. So then I tried moving back onto the sidewalk, because the cars were coming quickly, both entering and exiting – we weren’t going to get all the way across. He apparently wanted to cut across Selva, but that was an even worse idea.
I had to pull him pretty aggressively to get him out of the road before we all became roadkill. Bubba seemed confused about which way we were going. I doubt anyone would have hit us, but I don’t trust these kids with the pick ups. I was getting panicky and frustrated. I said some “un-Christian” things out of frustration. A woman that had walked by – a regular exercise walker with no dogs – paused her walk and got out her phone. I think she thought I was being abusive, and was going to film me. She hovered a bit, but when traffic cleared, I picked up Bubba to carry him across and Buddy followed, and I think she understood. She put away her phone and went back to walking.
