Thursday the 5th. Feb.
10:35 pm
I had to put my shoes on and head back over, to get some confused looks. After writing about Bubba staring at me with the water dish, I couldn’t remember putting the water dish back out. I thought I might have taken it into the kitchen, washed it, and on auto-pilot put the dish in the rack with the food dishes, out of habit. I did not remember getting an Evian bottle from the fridge. So I went over, turned on a light in the living room, saw the water dish where it belonged, and full of water. I apologized to the guys, turned the light off, and walked back out with them watching and wondering.
10:30 pm
I’m home. The guys were up later than the last few days, but there was no liveliness in it – they were just awake. At 9:30-ish, that faded fast. Neither guy followed me around while I cleaned up, and I barely got a look out of either when I picked up the dishes. Bubba did stare pretty hard when I took the water dish into the kitchen to clean, but that was it. It was a busy and exciting day. I am as tired as the guys looked. I need to study, but will probably pass out and get started early tomorrow.
5 pm
We had Shwack!
There was big excitement from both guys. I had my burger before I came over, but I sat and watched them eat theirs. Each guy grabbed a bowl and emptied it. I love burger nights!
As soon as the bowls were empty, it was walk time, but Bubba didn’t want to go. He got into the fireplace bed and flopped down. I totally get it – that’s all I really want to do after a good meal, too. Buddy wanted to walk, but it was just a bathroom run. We went across the street briefly, then came home. We spent some time visiting with Riley, a little girl in the neighborhood that’s maybe a year and a half old. Buddy liked visiting with her, tho she was more interested in a toy she was holding than a dog.
After that, we came home.
2 pm
A lot of the day has gone by. The house is clean. The guys are bathed, and home, and fed, and walked. There has been a lot of excitement today; these are going to be very tired guys.
Bobbie showed up 15 minutes early, and I was running slightly late, trying to time the gap between Bobbie’s arrival and the appt at the groomer. Bobbie’s helper was unload stuff outside the front door which set the guys off. Then we all three – Bobbie, her helper and I – walked in together, which elevated the excitement level, and there was pandemonium and barking – excited-happy barking.
The guys were still no trouble to get out. I was a little concerned about the longer time frame getting to the groomer, since we were both leaving early, and had a later appointment. But the guys were no trouble. Both pooped on the way there, and the walk was casual and enjoyable, and we arrived a bit earlier than our usual early arrival, but it was fine.
Buddy did his usual thing when we got to the groomer. He was fine going in, but started to freak out and wanting to escape once we were in the lobby. I thought I could relax him if we sat. I sat down on the bench, and then beckoned him to join me. At first he seemed to think he wasn’t allowed on the furniture – which is probably the right thinking – but I kept waving him up. He jumped up, turned around and sat down next to me. We just sat together, waiting, and he stopped pacing and trying to escape. He sat next to me, relaxed and quiet, until the gate to the work area was open, and he went right in.
Yvette walked with me to pick the guys up, and we brought the fresh, clean dudes back home.
