4 pm

Bubba has spent the last 4 hours in the piano bed.  Buddy and I moved out on the balcony.  It cooled way off once the sun went past, and it got breezy.  The AC got turned off, because it got chilly inside.  Buddy came out and sat down on the deck beside me.  I tried to coax him up into the other chair several times, but he didn’t want to jump up.  He did spend some time in the deck bed, but he never relaxed – his head was up, always looking around at some invisible thing that kept him on alert.  I kept expecting him to give up guard duty and lie down while I listened to my statistics teacher drone on.

It was early, but I could not focus any hunger was starting to distract me, so it was time to get dinner.  I walked a KM first (I have gone metric in my exercise program) and then left around 4:20 to go get our burgers.

12:45 pm

We got back from the Day Spa.

Buddy was at the door when I showed up, immediately excited and ran to get the bunny so he could squeaktaunt me.  I expected both guys to be sleeping, so I didn’t show up until 10.  Bubba was hidden away in the bedroom.  He came out while I was starting to marinade the day food.  Either he was only there for a temporary stop, or Buddy running around excitedly prompted him to come out and see what was going on.  Both guys wanted to play – Bubba was at the top of his game for chase – full of energy and running fast.  But he had to stop to hack up lung junk, because he’s not the puppy he wishes he was (like the rest of us!).

At 10:10 I realized that I had completely forgotten that it was Spa Day.  Our perfect record on getting out with no problem for groomer trips continued – and the guys were ready to go as soon as I grabbed the leashes.  Buddy stopped to poop in the planter right outside the dumpster by Yvette’s, which could hardly be a more perfect location, and then we made good time getting to the groomers.  Both guys were afraid to go in today, for some reason.  They both go in the front door, and Buddy tried to make his escape from the antechamber, not wanting to go into the grooming area.  Bubba, who normally marches in to take control, had his tail tucked and was resistant today.  Our neighbor Sami – with Princess – came in while we were trying to get the guys to go with the groomer lady.

When I arrived to pick up the guys, Buddy did his usual thing, trying to jump over the counter that’s 3x his height when he’s standing on his hind legs.  But today Bubba was doing the same thing.  Someone always has to fetch Bubba, as he’s busy minding his herd or hanging on out the back.  Today, both guys were by the interior gate, standing on their hind legs, hopping up and down at me.

We turned on the A/C after we got back.  It had gotten hot and stuffy inside.

Buddy had his meds.  He’s always easy.  Bubba didn’t bother to come check out what I was hand-feeding to Buddy.  When I was almost finished feeding Buddy his medicine-stuffed Cesar, Bubba came up to have a sniff, then snorted and walked away.  We’ll try to get Bubba medicated right before dinner.  I’m thinking it’s going to be a burger night – if I decide I can afford to break my diet.
