Friday the 13th! March.

11:30 pm

Finally home.  Bubba went to sleep around 10, but Buddy wouldn’t.  I was exhausted.  They wore me out with the walks today, not the other way around.

8 pm

When we got back, I thought the guys would guzzle water and flop.  But both guys wanted to play.  Bubba was barking and howling, and totally amped up from the walk, rather than tired out.

5:50 pm

We went on a great walk!  We went across to the park.  There were a ton of people for a beautiful sunset.  We met a super nice autistic young man in his late teens, who approached us, and was super polite.  He said hi, asked the guys’ names, first names, middle names, last names (a theme with all the dogs that came along after us).  He asked my name.  He asked if it was okay to pet the dogs.  The guys loved the attention.

While the dogs were visiting with the new friend, Sami and Princess came up.  The kid went through the same round of questions for Sami about Princess, and started petting all three dogs.  We stayed to chat a while, and then we joined Sami and Princess for the rest of our walk.  We strolled across the park, and back into and around the neighborhood.  We walked for almost 2 hours!

Buddy pooped, Bubba did not.

3:40 pm

The Fedex guy got the guys riled up.  We had to go out to investigate.  There wasn’t a whole lot of investigating done, as we made our way up to the gate out to PCH.  We strolled up to the path to PCH and Buddy started taking us down the path.  Both guys stopped to do some extensive sniffing around the trash can and dog bag dispenser, and when that was done Bubba started taking us into town.  I warned him that it was warm, even tho it was breezy and it felt cool, without the wind it was actually hot.  He snubbed my advice, and we headed into the big city.

We went down Green Lantern, past the plaza and started around the corner towards to harbor viewing spot.  But half way down the street, Bubba decided that we’d had enough and turned us around.  Buddy had been pushing ahead enthusiastically – it’s one of our least-travelled normal trips, but he didn’t resist when the Alpha wanted to go back.  I only carried Bubba across Green Lantern at PCH – cars whip around that corner pretty quickly at times.  He walked the rest of the way, but he was tired when we got back.

We walked 40 minutes, neither guy pooped.

11 am

Buddy and I went out for a short walk.  He didn’t need to poop.  We got across the street, and he stopped suddenly in the shade of a concrete bench, and wouldn’t move.  He just stood there, squinting.  I passed the time by texting.  We eventually got tired of standing and went home.  Walk was about 20 minutes, half of that standing still.

8:45 am

No accidents.  Nothing was broken.  Nothing was on fire.  A good start to the morning on this Friday the 13th.  Bubba was sleeping deeply in the bedroom, and didn’t wake when I crept up close enough to make sure he was breathing.

Buddy and I played a shortened version of fetch, me throwing the bunny in the hall from the living room, instead of all the way to the back of the bedroom.  I didn’t want to disturb the Alpha’s rest.

I set out the breakfast to soak, and Bubba came out.  Both guys were sitting by the front door, which signaled to me that they wanted to walk.  But when I grabbed the harnesses, both turned in unison to walk away, like it was coreographed.  Same direction, same pace, same arc – it was pretty impressive.  I really need to start wearing a bodycam every minute I work with these guys.

The resistance fell apart quickly.  Bubba came over and got dressed, so Buddy had to do the same.  The weather was perfect, and it was very quiet out.

We walked for an hour.  Both guys pooped
