Black Friday. November 28th.

5 pm

I screwed up. Again.

I realized this morning that I had forgotten to give the guys their meds on Wednesday.  I’d like to blame the holiday for messing up my schedule, but I really don’t celebrate.  There is no excuse, I just failed.  I seemed to doing that a lot, lately.

We took care of the meds this evening.  There was no resistance from either guy – chopped up half a Milk Bone with their pill and fed them by hand.  Then put out dinner.

4:30 pm

Last walk of the day.  It was very short.  We will need to push the timing forward, I think.  Bubba cut across the grass at the park just past the memorial.  I think he was cold.  It was chilly to me, probably very cold for a chihuahua.

We walked 15 minutes, neither guy pooped.

1:15 pm

Second walk.  We went out to the path up to PCH, very slowly checking all the plants and “hunting” several squirrels.  At the top of the path, we had another disagreement about direction.  Buddy wanted to go into town, The Alpha wanted to head north on PCH to the gate home.  The Alpha won again.

Once back in the community we headed to the dog park to see if there were friends to hang out with, and there were.  Shayna, Jolene and Kathy were all there.  I took the guys off leash to let them run free.  Then I started chatting with Shayna.  Someone yelled to call Bubba over to play, which caught my attention.  Bubba, after being set free was slowly walking away from the gathering, with his head turned backwards looking at me.  He wanted to get away, but he wanted me to come with him.  It seems that Bubba is now afraid of the dog park, or the dogs, or the people.  I’ll try taking him over when nobody is there to test that out.

Kathy came over to visit with him, and try to convince him to come play, but he continued to very-very-slowly make his way away from the park.  I’m glad he didn’t run away, after seeing him at full-speed yesterday.  I called Buddy over, and we went home.

Buddy pooped, Bubba did not.

9:30 am

Things have changed.  Mornings used to be like waking up teenagers that didn’t want to get out of bed and go to school.  Now the guys want to walk as soon as I’m there each morning.

Today, Bubba was in the bedroom when I showed up.  Buddy ran into the bedroom, didn’t make a sound, but he came back out with Bubba following directly behind.  When Bubba came around the corner he was not surprised to see me.  Somehow, they can communicate “the servant is here, we can walk” without a word.

Our walk went through the neighborhood, relatively quickly.  Bubba decided the way we would go.  Buddy wanted to head out of the neighborhood.  Bubba won the Test of Will.

We walked 35 minutes.  Both guys pooped.
