10:30 pm

The guys went to bed early again, tonight.  Both of them settled in about 8pm, and only got up briefly a couple of times.  Buddy scared the snot out of me around 9:30 with one very loud bark, and running to the door.  That woke up Bubba, who had to join Buddy at the door without knowing why.  Buddy didn’t continue barking, so Bubba didn’t join in – he just stood by the door, ears up, looking very curiously at Buddy.  I opened the door to check, and there was nothing.  No animals, no people, just wind.

At 10 I cleaned up.  Both pee pads needed changing.  I ran home for no more than 2 minutes, and came back to find Bubba had gotten up to Christen the new pad in the bathroom, then returned to his bed.  Apart for the rough start for Buddy’s innerds, it was a pretty good day.

5 pm

Buddy hovered close while I made dinner.  His appetite is back.  He greedily took scraps from my hand, and dashed out to the living room when I carried the bowls out.  Both guys dug right in when I put dinner out.  It was good seeing them both eating.

I will do meds tomorrow, or maybe Bubba’s tonight and wait on Buddy’s.  In case Buddy’s digestive system isn’t quite settled yet, I don’t want the meds running right through him, or coming back up.  I will try to give Bubba his when we do treats, if he’s in the mood.

2 pm

Things are looking better.  Buddy wanted to play gatekeeper with the fox.  One of the bunnies it out of commission.  While Buddy was busy vomiting around Bubba’s domain, bunny got peed on.  I’m not entirely sure what the message was, but I’m positive there was one.

I was watching Buddy to make sure he was drinking, concerned about him dehydrating with all the liquid coming out of both ends.  He was drinking, and at around 2 he started eating, and eating a lot.  So he must be feeling quite a bit better.

We went out to walk.  It was just a quick hop across the street to poop.  What came out was solid, but a little runny.  It was dark brown, and it had a lot of grass embedded in it. We’re definitely headed in the right direction.

10:10 am

I was busy cleaning up dog sick, so of course it was walk time.

Buddy pooped, and it was just foam and grass.  The grass had gone all the way through his system in under two hours.  He’s not well, but that’s definitely not a blockage, and that’s great news.  Bubba pooped, and it was just normal poop.  So whatever this is, at least so far, it’s just one guy.

10 am

Buddy seems fine.  Bubba got up to go outside to sit in the sun, and Buddy jumped in his face to play.  But Bubba was not interested, he had important Alpha resting to do in the sun.

The grass worked.  Buddy threw it all up in the master bedroom, in the hall by the bathroom.  There was grass, and foam and some bits of treats.  It looked like post-grass vomit, and not sickness vomit, which is a good sign.  But I’m worried about a blockage, if things can’t go down.  He was eating the grass pretty ferociously, like he’s really uncomfortable – while he looks happy, and plays and enjoys his walk.  It’s confusing.  While getting the sick cleaned up, I noticed that he had thrown up overnight in the same area.  There was a dried spot of the bright yellow sick, which concerns me more – it looks like bile or something.  It’s not cheese colored, so the yellow is coming from somewhere else.

8:35 am

Well, here we go again.  Buddy has stomach issues again.  That explains the lack of interest in food yesterday.

Also, a correction: I mentioned glucosamine tablets yesterday, but meant the probiotics.

He looked fine when I came in.  He greeted me at the door, a normal tail-wagging-excited Buddy poking his nose out the door as I opened it slowly.  He immediately started his belly grind, and was totally ready to get out the door when I approached with the leash and harness.  We moved rapidly across the street, but not with any hint of urgency, just his normal Buddy trot.  He took his time finding his perfect spot to poop, and then something yellow and liquidly came out.

After, he wanted to walk along Vista Park, and he ate half of the grass between the memorial and the first steps.  I just let him, since I know it’s Mother Nature’s stomach medicine for dogs, even though I’d have some stuff to clean up later – he obviously wasn’t feeling good, and he needed this.

After the buffet, we walked home by the mailboxes, and he turned suddenly for the planter and he pooped again.  This time it was pure liquid, and yellow.  It came out of him like someone shooting a water pistol.  Not a lot, just one quick blast, and then he continued trotting home.  He doesn’t look like he doesn’t feel well, apart from what’s coming out of him.  When we got home, I opened up, and saw he had pooped on the deck – normal poop, and then threw up twice, and peed on the screen door – 2 feet from the pad, for some reason.

Bubba stayed under the blanket in the fireplace bed the entire time, and shifted slightly only once.
